The VÍA BOGOTÁ-GIRARDOT program to provide support to migrants won an award from the international community

The program of the BOGOTÁ-GIRARDOT ROAD for providing support to migrants received an award from the international community 

• Vía Esperanza was recognized as the best community program by the GRI Infra Awards, the most important infrastructure awards in the Andean region. 

• Since 2019, Vía Esperanza has provided support to more than 40,000 migrants, which shows VINCI Highways’ commitment to local communities.  

The GRI Infra Awards, one of the most important awards in the field of infrastructure, recognized Vía Esperanza as the best community program in the Andean region this year. Vía Esperanza is dedicated to helping migrants in their transit while travelling on the road, offering hydration, food, road safety kits, first aid, among other services. 

Vía Esperanza is an initiative by the concessionaire company in charge of the BOGOTÁ-GIRARDOT ROAD, which is a subsidiary of VINCI Highways, one of the main highway concessionaire companies in the world. This program shows VINCI Highways’ commitment to providing Positive Mobility through an inclusive network of roads that act as motors of prosperity for the regions where they are located.  

Since 2019, when it was created, Vía Esperanza has already provided assistance to more than 40,000 migrants travelling along the BOGOTÁ-GIRARDOT ROAD. Since then, national and international organizations have joined the initiative, such as the Cundinamarca and Bogotá sections of the Red Cross, the International Organization for Migration - IOM and World Vision. The program has had a social Benefit by providing humanitarian responses to migration along the roads of Colombia in a safe manner, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS). 

According to Alexandra Álvarez, social director of the Bogotá-Girardot concessionaire company: "We are very proud of this international recognition for our program. Vía Esperanza is another example of our team’s efforts to have a positive impact along the BOGOTÁ-GIRARDOT ROAD".
