The Bogotá – Girardot road modernization and extension project is going according to schedule
• The current progress is 35 %, with more than 30% of the third lane built and 50% of the pavement rehabilitated, in compliance with the schedule agreed with the ANI.
• By the end of 2023, the BOGOTÁ-GIRARDOT ROAD project will have more than 50 % of the final lane available, including completion of the works of Functional Unit 1 and Functional Unit 4.
• To complete these sections, the Concession has doubled its efforts in terms of physical and human capital and implemented innovative construction strategies.
• The Concession will keep working at full intensity to complete the works within the time agreed and move forward with the process of formal delivery to the entity.
The Concession in charge of the optimization, modernization and extension of the Bogotá – Girardot road informed that the Project has reached a general progress of 35 % in its execution, with more than 30 % of the third lane built and 50 % of the pavement rehabilitated throughout this road section, rigorously meeting the schedule agreed with the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI).
According to José Daniel Fernández, Technical manager of the Concession “Upon completion of the project, the country and its regions will have a safer road corridor with a faster flow, built with high engineering and sustainability standards, which will boost tourism and trade, and will consolidate Positive Mobility in the region. All this, under the commitment of operating the road corridor for 30 years”.
The Concession estimates that, by the end of 2023, the project will have more than 50 % of the final lane available, including completion of the works comprising more than 60 km of road, and which go from San Rafael to El Paso and from Girardot to the Sumapaz Tunnel (Functional Unit 1), and from the Fusagasugá bypass to the urban area of the municipality (Functional Unit 4).
In order to complete these sections, the Concession has doubled its efforts in terms of physical and human capital. For example, now there are three daily work shifts to cover the 24 hours of the day and 100 % of the machinery available was taken to the site in order to ensure that the works are ready in 2023.
To generate this positive change, we implemented VINCI Concessions’ and VINCI Highways’ management model called “Positive Mobility” in the construction and operation of the road, which materializes the long-term commitment with the territory.
Finally, the Concession stated that it will keep working at full intensity to guarantee the completion of the other works of the BOGOTÁ-GIRARDOT ROAD within the times agreed; the last Functional Unit shall be completed in 2025.
