50km of the BOGOTÁ-GIRARDOT road have already been rehabilitated and are available to be used during this Recess Week
-
Vía 40 Express has opened for operation a completely rehabilitated stretch of 50km between Girardot and Melgar.
-
On October 2, Vía 40 Express also enabled the new Tolemaida bridge to enter the municipality of Melgar.
-
The stabilization Works at the Nariz del Diablo were completed, allowing for the enabling of the two lanes.
-
In coordination with the Road Police, traffic management measures will be implemented in those sectors in which only two lanes are enabled.
The Concession in charge of the optimization, modernization and extension of the Bogotá – Girardot road informed that the project has reached an overall progress of 35% in its execution, with more than 30% of the third lane built and 50% of the pavement rehabilitated throughout the entire section, as well as the opening of the new Tolemaida bridge in Melgar, which may be used by travelers during this Recess Week.
Where the configuration of the construction works make it possible, three or four lanes will be enabled to facilitate the mobility of travelers in the Exodus and Return plans.
In the sections that, due to the size of the Works executed, only have two lanes available, like the case of the Granada, Silvania, Fusagasugá and Boquerón sectors, the Road Police, in coordination with the Concession, will implement traffic management measures that, according to the amount of traffic, will have alternate access with Stop and Go signs to give priority to the lane with the highest traffic.
According to Fabián Lacouture, Technical Director of the Concession, “We are pleased to deliver to our users the section between the Sumapaz Tunnel and Girardot, passing by Melgar, Ricaurte, Flandes, among other municipalities, which now has a faster flow and better technical specifications. We also invite you to schedule your trips in the times established for the operations of the Exodus and Return Plan, and when cargo restrictions are in place*, since these measures facilitate mobility”.
Other measures adopted
During the Return Plan on Monday, October 16, the Traffic and Transportation Department will implement a reversible which consists of enabling the entire vehicle flow in one single direction, from Fusagasugá to Bogotá, from noon until midnight. As alternate routes for those traveling from Bogotá to Girardot, there are the roads of Sibaté-San Miguel-Fusagasugá or Mesitas del Colegio-Viotá-Girardot.
Vía 40 Express will also provide more units for the assistance of emergencies such as tow trucks, ambulances and repair service trucks, strategically located to assist any events that may occur on the road corridor, as well as more toll collection points and the enabling of 4 lanes in Chusacá and 3 in Chinauta with electronic toll collection to facilitate user transit.
Finally, the Concession recommends users requiring any kind of assistance or support on the road to call the 24/7 Emergency Response lines provided by Vía 40 Express: 018000 180305, 310 4224687, 311 7872339 and 311 7903187, as well as checking the status of the road on Twitter @Via40Express.
